Travel Itinerary for Uyuni

Day 1

Morning

Start your day with a visit to the Train Cemetery, located just outside of Uyuni. This eerie collection of rusting steam locomotives dates back to the early 20th century and is a photographer's dream.

After the train cemetery, head to the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat. The vast expanse of white salt is a surreal sight that must be seen to be believed.

Afternoon

After lunch, visit the nearby village of Colchani, where you can learn about the traditional methods of salt production and buy souvenirs made from salt.

Later in the afternoon, visit the Isla Incahuasi, an island in the middle of the salt flat that is covered in giant cacti and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Evening

End your day with a beautiful sunset over the salt flats. The best place to watch the sunset is from the top of Incahuasi Island.

Day 2

Morning

Start your day with a visit to the Laguna Colorada, a shallow salt lake that is home to thousands of flamingos.

Afternoon

After lunch, visit the Arbol de Piedra, a rock formation that resembles a tree.

Next, visit the Laguna Verde, a stunning green lake at the foot of the Licancabur volcano.

Evening

End your day with a relaxing soak in the Polques Hot Springs, located near the Chilean border.

Day 3

Morning

Start your day with a visit to the Valle de las Rocas, a surreal landscape of eroded rock formations.

Afternoon

After lunch, visit the village of San Juan, where you can learn about the local way of life and buy handicrafts made by the villagers.

Next, visit the Ollague Volcano, an active volcano that towers over the surrounding landscape.

Evening

End your day with a visit to the Chiguana Salt Flats, a lesser-known but equally stunning salt flat that offers a more secluded experience.
